Single shot percussion ignition muzzleloading military rifle musket with M1864 pattern leaf rear sight, musket combination front sight and socket bayonet lug, sling swivels on the triggerguard and middle barrel band and a straight shank tulip head ramrod. Standard Springfield lock markings, dated 1864 at the tail. Breech with standard proof and inspection marks and dated 1864 as well. Two partially legible script crouches are present on the counterpane including the GK of arsenal sub-inspector George Kimball and the ESA of Erskine S Allin. {ANTIQUE}
